This trailer model is designed to be hitched behind the D8 Tractor featured in the June 2003 issue of NZFMM Magazine. The idea of building the trailer originated from a small picture of the prototype D8 tractor working onsite in a sea of mud. There were two trailers in tandem to carry earth and rock dug from foundations on the construction site. The unusual feature of this trailer is that it runs on tracks rather than wheels. Evidently this was intended to prevent the trailer bogging down in the extreme conditions. The trailer incorporates a side tipping mechanism which is the reason it is described as a "dumpster trailer". Clearly this feature adds "play" value to the model.

For ease of understanding, the descriptions and parts lists are divided into three sections; chassis module, track module and bin module. All of the instructions for building the model are from the point of view of someone standing at the back of the trailer looking towards the drawbar.

This is a "taste" of the construction details.  Full instructions are available in the Magazine.
