What our Readers are Building.
from Donald Malcolm, Albany, Australia.
Enclosed are photos of my last two models that I’ve built over here. The first photo is of a Ducati 888 Super bike racer with yours truly behind it to give you a perspective of its 1/2 scale size. The only non-standard Meccano in the whole model were the tyres and some No. 8 fencing wire I used as a core for the exhaust pipes and oil/water pipes on the engine.
The second model is of a Sprint Car and was a ‘quick build’ model for the Maylands Meccano Club in Perth to use in an exhibition. It took six weeks to build. The car has working steering and a complete drive train with differential/ reduction box as per the prototype. This model also uses No. 8 wire for the exhaust pipes and has sponge foam tyres.
Note the Meccano dealers flags which have white (not gold) lettering on them.
